2009 Rule Change-Exhibition Heats in Events 43 thru 48 only (Posted on Thursday, June 18, 2009 1:03 AM) |
|
Exhibition heats for Events 43 thru 48 Freestyle Only (doesn't apply to 42-foot Freestyle Events 11 & 12 exhibition heats)
1. Exhibition heats (heat 2) are to be swum after Heat #1 in the meets. 2. Each pool has two Exhibition swimmers in the Exhibition heat 3. Coaches must enter the 2 Exhibition swimmers as a second heat in their assigned pool lanes for the computer program to print out the names of those swimmers for the Meet Entry timer's and Head Referee's lists. 4. Swimming in an Exhibition heat counts for the following for the swimmer: A. Meet Occurrence- having swam in that meet counts towards the championship eligibility requirements. B. Time - Coaches may use those times for championships entries. C. Meet Event- Swimming in an exhibition event counts towards their meet events entry restrictions (Ex. A winter swimmer cannot swim in 3 meet events and an Exhibition Event. That would count as four events and disqualify the swimmer.) D. The goal of Exhibition heats is to enable the larger pool to swim additional swimmers.

Meet Results (Posted on Thursday, June 18, 2009 12:56 AM) |

Your computer entry person should email the Secretary of Records, Mary Ollier, with the meet backup file within 24 hours of each tri-meet that you host. Her email address is maryo@gdsaswim.com and there is a link for her on the contacts page. Also, the host team must drop off the hardcopies listed below in the purple plastic tub labeled "GDSA meet results" outside of her front door at home or to Crestwood's pool office, clearly marked with Mary's name on it: 1. hard copy of meet results 2. hard copy of all three individual team meet entry line-ups 3. any pink (or white) alternate slips 4. List of Meet Officials 5. any new yellow registration forms (sorted alphabetically by male and female for each pool, please). Each swimmer must have one on file in order to be covered by GDSA insurance, and for managers to verify that the swimmer is a pool member. Please make sure all of these are signed by a manager and parent before they are turned in. If the forms are incomplete, they will be sent back for signatures. 6. If a GDSA record was set, provide the timer sheet for that swimmer's event/lane SIGNED BYthe 3 timers, head referee, and computer scoring person to Mary. Annotate and highlight that a GDSA record was set. After each meet you host, please SAVE all timer sheets until the end of the season. Do not send them to Mary, as that is a lot of paperwork for her to store for every meet. However, she may ask to recall one of the sheets if there is an issue or need to verify a record. So they must be kept until after FINALS. Thank you.

Change to Backstroke Start- Standup Start illegal (Posted on Thursday, January 26, 2006 6:59 PM) |
|
| At the January 17. 2006 GDSA meeting, it was unanimously voted on to make the stand-up backstroke start illegal. Many of our officials are high school swim officials, thus we are standardizing our rules with the National Federation of High School (NFHS) Swimming Rules to avoid confusion. The new rule will read as follows: "For the backstroke start, swimmers shall step in the water feet first, and line up in the water facing the starting end with both hands in contact with the end of the pool or the starting platform. Prior to the command, 'Take your mark' and until the feet leave the wall at the starting signal, the swimmer's feet, including the toes, shall be completely under the surface of the water. Standing on or in the gutter or curling the toes over the lip of the gutter, immediately after the start, is not permitted." |
