POST SWIM MEET PAPERWORK
(Posted on Thursday, June 12, 2008 5:34 PM)
GDSA Reps:

Within 24 hours after a tri-meet: please bring the following paperwork to the home of Mary Ollier, the new GDSA Secetary of Records. See email sent for home address and phone. A purple tub marked GDSA Results will be on her front doorstep to put these results into.

1) hardcopy of meet results

2) hardcopy of 3 individual team meet entry line-ups

3) any pink (or white) alternate slips

4) list of officials for that tri-meet

5) any new yellow registration forms (sorted alphabetically by male and female for each pool). Each swimmer must have one on file in order to be covered by GDSA insurance, and for managers to verify that the swimmer is a pool member. Make sure these are definitely signed by a manager and a parent (swimmers too are desired) before you turn them in.

6) if a GDSA record was set, provide the timer sheet for that swimmer's event/lane signed by the 3 timers, head referee, and computer scoring rep.
Reminder for all reps to save all timer sheets (don't turn into Mary or throw them away until the season is over in case Mary needs to recall any of them to check records).

NOTE: Computer reps should email the meet backup file within 24 hours to Mary Ollier at maryo@gdsaswim.com

Should you need any forms, like referee, meet workers, alternate swimmer, list of events, yellow GDSA form, etc to make copies from, Mary now has all of these in her possession.

Change to Backstroke Start- Standup Start illegal
(Posted on Thursday, January 26, 2006 6:59 PM)
At the January 17. 2006 GDSA meeting, it was unanimously voted on to make the stand-up backstroke start illegal. Many of our officials are high school swim officials, thus we are standardizing our rules with the National Federation of High School (NFHS) Swimming Rules to avoid confusion. The new rule will read as follows: "For the backstroke start, swimmers shall step in the water feet first, and line up in the water facing the starting end with both hands in contact with the end of the pool or the starting platform. Prior to the command, 'Take your mark' and until the feet leave the wall at the starting signal, the swimmer's feet, including the toes, shall be completely under the surface of the water. Standing on or in the gutter or curling the toes over the lip of the gutter, immediately after the start, is not permitted."
